Wear a helmet, wear your seat belt at ALL TIMES

Here are some safety guidelines for someone renting an ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle):

1. **Wear Proper Safety Gear**: Always wear a helmet that fits properly, along with goggles, gloves, long sleeves, long pants, and over-the-ankle boots. This gear can provide protection against injuries from falls, debris, and other hazards.

2. **Familiarize Yourself with the ATV**: Before operating the ATV, familiarize yourself with its controls, including the throttle, brakes, and steering. Read the owner’s manual provided by the rental host for specific instructions and safety information.

3. **Inspect the ATV Before Use**: Conduct a thorough inspection of the ATV before each use. Check for any signs of damage, such as cracks, leaks, or loose parts. Ensure that the tires are properly inflated and that all lights and signals are working.

4. **Follow Age and Weight Restrictions**: Abide by the age and weight restrictions set by the Host and product manufacturer. These restrictions are in place to ensure the safe operation of the ATV and to prevent accidents caused by inexperienced or underage riders.

5. **Stay on Designated Trails**: Only ride the ATV on designated trails and approved riding areas. Avoid riding on paved roads, highways, or areas where ATVs are prohibited. Respect private property and obtain permission before riding on someone else’s land.

6. **Avoid Riding Alone**: Whenever possible, ride with at least one other person. Having a riding companion can provide assistance in case of an emergency and can enhance overall safety.

7. **Practice Safe Riding Techniques**:

  - Keep both hands on the handlebars at all times.

  - Maintain a safe speed appropriate for the terrain and conditions.

  - Keep a safe distance from other riders and obstacles.

  - Avoid sudden maneuvers or sharp turns that could cause loss of control.

  - Never carry passengers on ATVs designed for single riders.

8. **Be Prepared for Emergencies**: Carry a first aid kit, a cell phone or communication device, and a map of the area in case of emergencies. Familiarize yourself with basic first aid procedures and know how to contact emergency services in the event of an accident or injury.

9. **Stay Sober**: Never operate an ATV under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Impaired judgment and coordination significantly increase the risk of accidents and injuries.

10. **Respect Wildlife and the Environment**: Stay on designated trails to minimize damage to the environment and wildlife habitats. Avoid disturbing wildlife and follow Leave No Trace principles to preserve the natural beauty of the area.

By following these safety guidelines, ATV renters can minimize the risk of accidents and injuries while enjoying their outdoor adventures.

Ten Things You Need To Know Before You Boat - Utah Division of Outdoor Recreation

No Jumping, no Racing, no bumping,

  • Flag up when someone is in the water
  • Wear a life jacket
  • According to the U.S. Coast Guard, 79% of fatal boating accident victims drowned, and 86% of those victims were not wearing a life jacket. Life jackets must be the right size for the wearer and always be readily accessible in the event of an emergency.
  • Take a boating course
  • A boating safety course can help lessen property damage and personal injury linked with recreational boat usage.
  • Never drink and drive a boat
  • Being impaired could cause accidents and seriously endanger yourself as well as other boaters around you.
  • Always follow navigation rules
  • Steer the boat cautiously, and don't make sudden changes in the speed of the boat or a lurch could cause passengers to fall overboard.
  • Have a boat safety kit
  • An ideal boat safety kit contains safety gear, survival gear, basic navigation tools, and most importantly a first aid kit.
  • Monitor the weather
  • Before you leave the dock, check local weather conditions to make sure it's safe to be on the water. If you notice sudden changes, head back to shore immediately.
  • Be aware of carbon monoxide
  • Harmful fumes can gather in/around your boat, posing a serious threat to your passengers. Be mindful of inadequately ventilated and enclosed spaces, and your engine whilst it idles.

On boats, captains are required. To be a certified captain, email contact.us@myoutdoorshare.com

Wave runners abide by the same rule in addition to: always wear the engine off clip.

To become a certified captain send proof of boating license to contact.us@myoutdoorshare.com or go to: BOATERexam.com
